Amelia Park Arena in Westfield is proud to announce that they will be sponsoring the 215^th Army Band of the Massachusetts National Guard Concert at the South Middle School, 30 West Silver St., Westfield on Thursday, July 14 from 6:30-8pm.

 

Attendance to the concert is FREE and will showcase a band that is distinguished with many awards for military training as well as musicianship. 

 

“We are thrilled to be able to schedule the 215^th Army Band once again,” said Barbara Braem, Trustee of the Albert and Amelia Ferst Operating Foundation. “It is a great opportunity for our community.”

 

Formed in Boston in 1950 with only 14 members, the entire bank comprises a concert and ceremonial/marching band or breaks into ten different small ensembles covering musical genres from Renaissance to the popular songs of today. The band has been the international musical ambassador for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts on numerous
occasions. During the 1986 Presidential Summit with the Soviet Union in Iceland, the 215^th was the only United States
military band to perform for President Reagan. The 215^th received honors for their successful tours of Jamaica and Greece.
 

Amelia Park Ice Arena is an ice arena/sports complex and memorial garden, was financed by Westfield, Massachusetts philanthropist Albert F. Ferst, in memory of his wife Amelia. The Albert & Amelia Ferst Operating Foundation, a 501 (c) 3 non-profit entity, was formed in 1998, with the expressed purpose of building a recreational facility and garden in her memory.
